HOW TO PRACTICE ODD-METER

Maybe it was not so much a topic in the 60`s, when Sonny Rollins would find himself hardly ever confronted with a 5/4 bar. But these days, when I attend a band rehearsal in Berlin, the chances are much higher that I encounter a new tune in 7/4 than in 4/4. For some time, I struggled to find any good approach to practice Odd-Meters. It seemed like you just had to try and see if your lines work out. But I never felt that this is a good way of practicing......
